Paying for DeepL step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- Pick a Pro plan on the DeepL Pro page, create an account and enter the card and address.
- Annual billing is the cheapest; monthly costs more, as the toggle on the plans page shows.
- The DeepL API is a separate subscription with its own account: even API Free asks for a card for verification.
- Invoices and card changes are in your DeepL account under subscription and payment details.
What can go wrong
If the DeepL payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- DeepL sells Pro only in specific countries and checks the billing-address country: it must be the card's issuing country and on the supported list.
- Price and currency depend on the country: in Europe DeepL shows euros with VAT, elsewhere amounts differ.
- API Free uses the card only for verification, but moving to API Pro starts a base fee plus per-character charges.
