How to pay for ChatGPT Plus and the OpenAI API
OpenAI doesn't accept local cards in many countries, but the international Libermall Visa/Mastercard works both for the ChatGPT Plus subscription and for API billing.
ChatGPT Plus (subscription)
- Issue and top up a card.
- In ChatGPT open Settings → Subscription → Upgrade to Plus.
- Enter the card details and billing address, confirm 3D Secure.
OpenAI API (pay by credits)
In the OpenAI platform's Billing section, add the card as a payment method and top up your credit balance — API usage is drawn from it.
Keep a small buffer above the subscription amount — the service sometimes runs a $0–1 verification hold.
